PlayStation Plus members on PS5 can now get a popular game that’s been a hit on Xbox Game Pass at no extra cost. However, this free offer is only available to those with PS Plus Extra or Premium subscriptions – it won’t be available for those on the basic PS Plus Essential tier. If you’re subscribed to one of the higher tiers, you can enjoy this well-received 2024 shooter – often praised as one of the best in recent years – without paying its usual $40 price.
As a PlayStation Plus subscriber, I’m super excited to share that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will be available to download and play for free starting March 17th! It’s already been a huge hit on Xbox Game Pass since January, consistently ranking as one of their most popular games. We’ll have to see if it does as well on PS5 with PlayStation Plus, but I think a lot of us are going to love having this one to play – it’s definitely the biggest addition for March!
One of 2024’s Best Games
If you’re new to Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, it’s a third-person shooter that blends gunplay with melee combat. It’s the follow-up to the 2011 game, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. While the original game was a modest success and didn’t gain widespread attention, the sequel became much more popular, selling over 4.5 million copies. Critics also responded more favorably – the first game received scores between 70 and 76 on Metacritic, while the sequel scored between 80 and 83. The game was even nominated for Best Multiplayer and Best Action Game at The Game Awards.
Despite what some critics say, players actually seem to be enjoying Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Online reviews are generally positive – it has a 4.43 out of 5 rating on the PlayStation Store based on over 29,000 reviews, which translates to an 88.6 on Metacritic.
Players on PS5 who try out Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 when it’s offered for free with PlayStation Plus next week can expect to spend around 10 to 15 hours finishing the main story. If you’re a completionist aiming to do everything, it will likely take between 60 and 70 hours to fully finish the game.
