Recent online rumors about a new PlayStation State of Play event in April appear to be false. Talk started last week suggesting a presentation could happen soon, with some even predicting it this week. However, with the week nearing its end, it seems PlayStation won’t be holding a new event after all.
There were rumors that a new PlayStation State of Play presentation would happen tomorrow, April 16th. However, as of today, PlayStation hasn’t officially announced anything. They usually give fans several days’ notice for these events, so people can plan to watch live. Since there’s been no announcement, it seems unlikely a State of Play will happen this week, despite what many were hoping.
There’s Still Potential for a New State of Play This Month

Just because there isn’t a PlayStation State of Play scheduled for this week doesn’t rule one out before the end of April. If PlayStation had originally planned an event for April 16th, they could easily reschedule it for next week or the week after. With half of April still remaining, there’s still plenty of opportunity for PlayStation to host an event this month.
We’re expecting to see gameplay footage of Marvel’s Wolverine very soon. Insomniac Games promised to share updates and a new look at the game sometime this spring. A State of Play presentation, possibly focused entirely on Marvel’s Wolverine, seems like the most likely way they’ll reveal more.
As a PlayStation fan, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a State of Play soon! Even if we don’t get one in April, PlayStation usually does a big showcase in May or June, and they’ve done that consistently for years. So, if you’re excited to see what’s coming to PS5 like I am, I think we’ll be getting a lot of news pretty quickly!
