Pokémon Champions Fixes Incoming, But There’s More Work To Be Done

Pokémon Champions Has a Bug Problem

The team at Pokémon Champions is currently addressing seven significant issues in the game. Some have already been fixed with patches, and the rest are in progress. You can find a detailed list of these glitches below.

  • The description of Leech Seed’s status is incorrect.
  • Some Pokémon in the tutorial are incorrectly gendered.
  • Some Pokémon in Coordinate Teams are incorrectly gendered.
  • When impacted by Encore, the Ability Lightning Rod may not activate correctly.
  • During battle, if you look at move details, place the cursor over Mega Evolution and then press the B button, you may be unable to select a move.
  • If this occurs, opening the surrender window with the – button and then closing out of it will return move selection, avoiding this locked state.
  • When using techniques such as Haze or Sunny Day, the HP display in-game may not be shown correctly.

Currently, the developers of Pokémon Champions haven’t announced a date for the bug fixes. Players are hoping for improvements, as the game had a very bumpy start. While expectations were high, the launch of Pokémon Champions has been one of the most problematic in the history of the franchise.

Pokémon Champions Has Had A Rough Launch

When Pokémon Champions launched on April 8th, players were optimistic about its potential to revitalize competitive battling, hoping it would recapture the magic of games like Pokémon Stadium. The game was advertised as a celebration of the VGC’s 30-year history, offering both mobile and console play. However, it quickly became clear that the game was released prematurely, feeling more like an unfinished beta version due to four significant problems.

The biggest problem with the game is its limited content. Many important items from the main Pokémon series, such as Assault Vest and Life Orb, are missing, which impacts competitive play. Several popular and powerful Pokémon, including starter Pokémon and legendary creatures, are also absent. This lack of content makes it difficult to properly evaluate how well the game will work as the future of VGC (Video Game Championships).

Technically, Pokémon Champions has a lot of problems. The game suffers from lag and stiff, awkward animations. These visual issues are compounded by gameplay bugs – the order of moves can randomly change, and some moves, like Fake Out, don’t work correctly. Fans are understandably disappointed, and many feel it was a mistake to release the game in this condition. To make matters worse, the private multiplayer battling feature, which is central to the competitive Pokémon experience, is completely broken. If you can’t battle others, it really defeats the purpose of the game.

Pokémon Champions had a very rough start, filled with bugs and lacking in content.
