Capcom is considering expanding the world of Pragmata, potentially leading to more games featuring the characters Hugh and Diana.
At a press event in Las Vegas this week, Rob Dyer, COO of Capcom USA, shared that Pragmata is a new franchise the company plans to develop further. He explained that Capcom has a strong collection of intellectual properties, and Pragmata is one they can build upon for future projects.
These comments from Dyer follow the quick success of Hugh and Diana’s adventure, which sold over a million copies in just two days. It’s a remarkable achievement, especially considering it took Capcom over six years to reach the same milestone when the game was first announced at a PlayStation 5 event in 2020.
The Japanese developers listened to feedback from their American teams, using focus tests and demos to refine the game. Dyer felt this extra work paid off.
Capcom is having a fantastic year, with successful launches like Resident Evil Requiem and Monster Hunter Stories 3. They’ve also seen positive reception for Pragmata, and still have the highly anticipated Onimusha: Way of the Sword coming out in 2026. This makes it a particularly impressive year for a company already known for consistently delivering quality games.
In our review of Pragmata for PS5, we gave it an 8 out of 10, highlighting its engaging hacking gameplay. We said the game “knows what it does well and really focuses on those strengths,” making it a fantastic and enjoyable action game, and we’re eager for a sequel.
