PS5 Gigaflop Mindseye Gets a Permanent Price Reduction, Free Update and PS Plus Premium Trial

I have to say, I really admire Build a Rocket Boy. Even though their game, MindsEye, which is coming out in 2025, didn’t quite hit the mark, they’re still pushing forward, and that takes guts. You’ve got to give them credit for that kind of persistence.

The game’s price is now permanently reduced to $34.99 or £29.99, and the Deluxe Edition will cost $47.99 or £34.99. PlayStation Plus Premium members can also try a full two-hour trial version.

The game is still being improved with its expansive open world, and a new free mission called BLACKLISTED was just released this week.

Initially, the game was planned to include the character Agent 47, since IO Interactive, the creators of the Hitman series, first published it. However, they’ve since cut ties with the development studio, so Agent 47 has been replaced by a strong, new character named Julia.

If you’ve been following the story closely, you’ll know that Build a Rocket Boy claims someone is deliberately trying to damage MindsEye’s reputation. This new part of the game is meant to reveal who they believe is responsible.

After seeing some gameplay videos online, we believe this isn’t the case. The game seems to allude to something called the “Ritual Network,” which is a real talent agency that has been accused of collaborating with a content creator named Cyber Boi to target the game with negative attention.

There’s a brief scene where you follow a masked DJ who looks a little like the YouTuber we talked about earlier, but that’s the extent of anything surprising. Don’t expect any big twists or shocking discoveries.

Just a heads-up: this new mission is fairly short, around 45 minutes long, and doesn’t allow you to save your game mid-way through. While you’ll respawn at checkpoints if you fail, quitting the game or turning off your console will force you to restart the entire mission from the beginning.

So, I was reading the latest news, and the CEO of MindsEye, Mark Gerhard, basically hinted that they’ve got a lot more planned for the game even after it’s launched. Sounds like we’ll be getting updates and support for a while, which is awesome!

BLACKLISTED is the first new story campaign for MindsEye since its release, and we’re thrilled to bring players back to Redrock City with a fresh experience. Instead of typical downloadable content, BLACKLISTED is being released through ARCADIA, our built-in platform for user-created content.

The author’s excitement for the game grows the more they learn about it. However, even with the price reduction, it’s still far too expensive to justify buying.
