The PlayStation 5 Pro is getting enhanced support for two award-winning games. Sony recently improved its PSSR upscaling technology on the PS5 Pro, and Resident Evil Requiem was the first game to benefit. Now, two more highly-rated PS5 games will soon be added to the list of titles that take advantage of these improvements.
I was so excited to hear that Remedy Entertainment is going to use the new features of the PS5 Pro to upgrade both Control: Ultimate Edition and Alan Wake 2! Control first came out on PS4 back in 2019, and the Ultimate Edition on PS5 was fantastic – the game was a huge hit for the studio and won a ton of awards. Alan Wake 2, which came out in 2023, was just as successful, getting amazing reviews from everyone. I can’t wait to see how these upgrades will look!
Remedy is enhancing both Control and Alan Wake 2 to take full advantage of the new PS5 Pro console, and there are several good reasons for this. Both games already looked fantastic, so the upgrade will make them even more visually impressive. This timing is also ideal because the sequel to Control, called Resonant, is coming out in 2026. Players excited for Resonant can revisit Control and Alan Wake 2 on the PS5 Pro to get a taste of what’s to come.
Is PS5 Pro Finally Worth It?
The PS5 Pro had a difficult launch in 2024, but recent improvements have significantly boosted its performance. The latest update to its PlayStation Spectral Reconstruction (PSSR) technology seems to have transformed the console into the powerful device many players were hoping for, making it a much more appealing purchase now than it was at first.
It’s tough to say if the PS5 Pro is a good buy right now. There’s talk that the PS6 might come out as early as 2027, which would make the PS5 Pro feel outdated pretty quickly. Plus, with a price tag of $750, it’s a significant expense that many gamers might hesitate to make.
