On the PlayStation 5 Pro, there aren’t many games in 8K resolution, yet Pure Pool Pro aspires to utilize all the power that Sony’s highly-tuned hardware has to offer.
As per developer Ripstone’s announcement, this upcoming release will operate smoothly at a frame rate of 60 frames per second in genuine 8K resolution, without relying on techniques such as PSSR for upscaling. On the other hand, the standard PlayStation 5 model is expected to perform at a faster frame rate of 120 frames per second in native 4K resolution.
Here’s what Ripstone’s George Holland told us:

Although it might seem surprising, given the unique design of the pool surrounding the table, our innovative, lighter-than-average engine, and early testing before any improvements, we are confident that this performance is attainable.
You can check out some native 8K gameplay, captured on a PC, in the video embedded below.
The complete version of the game will be constructed upon Ripstone’s extensive expertise in cue-based games, featuring hyper-realistic lighting effects and flawless physics.
Alongside effortless multiplayer compatibility and an intelligent AI system that mimics real-world stress, you can expect a career mode encompassing 8-Ball, 9-Ball, Blackball, and other variants as well.
At the moment, we don’t have a specific launch date, but we are planning to conduct a beta test on PC in September. We will share more information as soon as we have it available.
