PS5’s Fairgames Dodged State of Play, But Could It Be Rebranded at Summer Game Fest?

I wasn’t surprised, though I was hoping it wouldn’t be true, to see Fairgames renamed as Break In during this week’s State of Play presentation.

We’ve already reviewed the relevant trademarks and found associated social media accounts.

Sony didn’t showcase any live service games during its recent presentation, except for a brief look at the Marathon trailer, possibly because they believe these types of games aren’t a good fit for these kinds of events.

However, if the game isn’t going to be cancelled – and everything we’ve heard indicates that’s probably not going to happen – it will eventually need to be shown to the public again. Could Summer Game Fest be a good opportunity to do that?

Sony frequently provides Geoff Keighley with announcements to make during his shows. Their level of support has varied, ranging from minor reveals like DualSense controllers to major announcements like Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

What’s important to remember is that the audience for SGF is likely different than for State of Play. People generally expect less in terms of big announcements, and we’ll probably see a lot of games that are constantly updated after release – like Fortnite, which has already been confirmed to be featured.

Honestly, after that big closed beta, I’m guessing Haven is itching to show off the game to everyone. If they’re ready to really reveal it, this seems like the perfect spot to do it. I’m hoping we get a good look soon!
