THQ Nordic and Quantumfrog have revealed that Pumuckl and the Crown of the Pirate King, a 3D puzzle adventure game, is coming to Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam in early 2026. The game will be priced at $39.99 or €39.99.
Pumuckl is a mischievous, red-haired character from the popular German children’s series Meister Eder und sein Pumuckl, which first aired in 1961. The show has seen a recent revival with a new series, Neue Geschichten vom Pumuckl, and a feature film called Pumuckl and the Big Misunderstanding.
Here is an overview of the game, via THQ Nordic:
About
Join the mischievous German kobold, Pumuckl, in his new 3D puzzle adventure, Pumuckl and the Crown of the Pirate King! As Pumuckl, you’ll navigate challenging 3D puzzles, enjoy fun mini-games, overcome obstacles, and battle spooky enemies.
Master Eder’s workshop is usually bustling, and things get especially chaotic when the kobold Pumuckl is supposed to be cleaning. While tidying, he discovers a peculiar bottle containing a miniature ship, and he notices movement within! Filled with curiosity, Pumuckl opens the bottle, and before he can even complain, he’s pulled into a swirling vortex—transporting him right onto the ship inside!
He wakes up in a magical pirate world that is bigger than it could possibly fit inside any bottle.
Pumuckl encounters Captain Krimskrams, a rather eccentric and absent-minded pirate, who needs his assistance. A curse has been placed on the ship by the Pirate King, and he’s locked himself behind a magical door. The only way to open the door and confront the king is with golden doubloons, which will allow Pumuckl and the Captain to break the curse.
The world of pirates here features a magical portal with doorways to amazing places like sunny islands, mysterious ruins, and an old pirate fortress. Pumuckl and Captain Krimskrams will face challenging puzzles, fight skeleton pirates, dodge kobold traps, and play fun mini-games wherever they go. Their mischievous parrot, Krakula, tags along, sometimes offering helpful advice and other times enjoying their mishaps.
