Ubisoft has officially announced that their studios in Montpellier and Milan are developing the next chapter for the “Rayman” series, building upon last year’s announcement of exploring the brand. Although brand producer Loic Gounon cautioned not to anticipate updates immediately, it appears that the rumored remake of “Rayman” is making steady progress.
According to reports from Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming, who initially broke the news last year, a project codenamed “Steambot” is rumored to be slated for release towards the end of 2026. Sources close to development claim that things are going exceptionally well with the project’s progress.
Ubisoft intends to continue the Rayman series with potential plans for Rayman 4, which would be the first numbered game since Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. However, these plans are contingent on the success of a previous title called Steambot. If Steambot succeeds, the new game could potentially launch by the year 2030, according to reports.
Last May, job postings emerged for a potential new Rayman game with AAA status, which included a role for a 3D animator in the gameplay. If the remake rumors are accurate, this game might turn out to be a fully-fledged 3D platformer instead of the side-scrolling format seen in the original game or Rayman Legends. Keep an eye out for additional information and updates as they come.
