Originally launched in 2010 as the second game in the Red Dead series, Red Dead Redemption really put Rockstar on the map – it’s actually the predecessor to Red Dead Redemption 2, which can be a little confusing! The game is set in 1911, as the Wild West is fading away, and tells the story of John Marston, an outlaw forced to return to a life of crime. The government kidnaps his wife and son, and will only release them if John works for them.
As a huge fan, I was so excited to hear the news! Red Dead Redemption is still considered one of the greatest games ever made – it won tons of awards when it first came out, and even after 16 years, people are getting really hyped about what’s coming next. It’s totally understandable!
Red Dead Redemption Is Back Again
You’re not mistaken! Red Dead Redemption is returning, with a PlayStation 5 version launching on May 7th. The news leaked from Spanish retailer Wakkap before Rockstar Games officially announced it, and the store has already begun taking pre-orders for physical copies (as reported by Viciados).
Okay, so I just saw a listing for Red Dead Redemption on PS5, and it’s gonna cost €32.90! It’s coming out on May 7th, 2026, which feels like forever away, but awesome! The best part? It includes Undead Nightmare too! Apparently, this is the first time you can actually buy a physical copy of this game for the PS5 – before now it was only on PS4. That means no more having to download an upgrade – you can just pop the disc in and play! Seriously hyped about this.
Red Dead Redemption 2’s PS5 Port Remains Elusive
As of today, Rockstar Games hasn’t officially announced a physical disc version of Red Dead Redemption for PlayStation 5. However, recent rumors and a new store listing suggest an announcement is likely coming soon. It’s important to note that this release is a remastered version of the original game, not a complete remake, so players can still enjoy the familiar story and world they loved from the 2010 release. Excitement is already building among fans on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit.
