Games with a deliberately retro, low-fidelity style – like the popular titles World of Horror and Needy Streamer Overload – have become increasingly common, and Save My Scrap appears to be a chilling new addition to this growing trend.
This visual novel features puzzles and is inspired by the free game Fix My Junk, but it’s been significantly expanded and will be released on PS5.
The game is coming out on April 30th and tells the story of Miomaru and Harima, an outdated android.
Okay, so I’m basically a robot mechanic here, and the gameplay starts with these puzzle things where I have to connect circuits, pipes, and wires – kinda like a jigsaw. As I fix this robot, Harima, I start unlocking her memories and learning about her history with someone named Miomaru. It’s a cool way to learn the story as I progress!
As with many story-driven games, the choices you make will change the conversations and ultimately the ending you get. If you enjoy exploring different possibilities, you’ll likely want to play through it multiple times to experience everything.
If the writing is as good as the game’s beautiful art style, Japanese developer Unio Anou might have a real winner on their hands. It’s definitely a game to watch.
