Resident Evil’s Release Date And Official Website Launch
Zach Cregger’s new movie is scheduled to come out in theaters on September 18, 2026. With the start of its marketing, the film is gaining attention. Sony Pictures recently launched the official website, and though fans are excited for the trailer—which was shown first at CinemaCon—they’re still waiting for its public release.
Now that the movie’s release date is set, an official website is available. Currently, the site offers a quick look at the film’s logo, release date, and confirms it will be available in IMAX.

Zach Cregger Calls Resident Evil A Scary Ride
Zach Cregger, speaking at CinemaCon, called the movie a “big, scary ride.” He explained that it centers on a character’s perilous journey through a hostile world that seems determined to defeat them. Those who saw it at CinemaCon noted the movie’s fast and constant action reminded them of Mad Max: Fury Road.
Cregger explained that the movie won’t follow the video game’s story exactly. Instead, he’s aiming to capture the feeling of actually playing the game.
Resident Evil Requiem Sells Over 7 Million Copies
The game side of the franchise is also doing very well. Since its launch, Requiem has sold over 7 million copies. Game director Koshi Nakanishi celebrated the success by sharing a picture of Requiem-themed cakes online.
