At the XRP Las Vegas event, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse responded to long-standing community concerns about the company’s dedication to XRP. For years, people have wondered if Ripple is shifting its focus away from XRP and towards stablecoins and services for businesses.
Garlinghouse found it odd that people doubted Ripple’s dedication to XRP. He pointed out that Ripple remains the biggest holder of XRP globally and has the strongest incentive for its success, a position they expect to maintain.
He disagreed with the reasoning behind the skepticism. “Every time I see someone questioning it, I just don’t understand their point – it doesn’t seem logical at all.”
The North Star Has Not Changed
Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, explained the company’s main priorities for XRP: to make it the most practical, easily traded, and reliable digital asset available. He emphasized that all of Ripple’s efforts, even those that don’t seem directly related to XRP, are geared toward achieving these three objectives.
He explained that even if a direct connection isn’t possible, there might be an indirect route – for example, going from point A to point B to point C. Ultimately, everything they do aims to increase XRP’s growth, usability, and reliability.
Regarding the idea that RLUSD could replace XRP – a topic many in the community have been discussing since the stablecoin’s release – Garlinghouse understands the concern but disagrees with it. He also stated he’s not required to publicly detail every business strategy, as sharing that information could benefit rivals.
He explained that he prefers not to publicly share their plans, as doing so could give competitors an advantage.
A Record Year and a Pointed Troll
Brad Garlinghouse shared that Ripple has grown to 1,300 employees and is experiencing a record-breaking year in several key areas. He recently finished a demanding trip that took him to Dublin, London, Singapore, and Sydney all in one week, which he admitted was overly ambitious and something he doesn’t plan to do again.
