Rosie O’Donnell almost can’t believe she got a facelift.
The comedian said she had a procedure done in January, and it was very expensive. In a recent post, she compared the cost to more than she’s ever spent on a car.
She also confessed to previously being firmly against getting a facelift, which gave her pause about considering surgery now.
Rosie wrote, ‘Not just lightly, but with a deep sense of responsibility.’ She explained that she’d taken it upon herself to represent all women who had ever felt completely defeated.
She explained that it felt like a betrayal – not just to her, but to the broader ideals of feminism, to women growing older, and to the entire global network of women she worked with.
After losing fifty pounds at age sixty-four, she playfully said her face looked like it was deliberately reshaping itself.
Okay, so I tried to be cool about it, you know? Like, telling myself, ‘This makes sense, they worked for this!’ But then I just started spiraling. I kept thinking, ‘How much success is too much success?’ It’s like… when you start pretending things are okay, it doesn’t feel real anymore. It feels like I’m just…lying to myself about it all.
Even after undergoing the procedure, Rosie—mother to Parker, 31, Chelsea, 28, Blake, 26, and Vivienne, 23, with her former wife Kelli Carpenter, and Clay, 13, with her late ex-wife Michelle Rounds—feels like no one has acknowledged it.
She wrote that she felt alone, saying not a single person – not even friends, strangers, or those who had praised her – understood her.
Even Clay didn’t seem to realize this, even though he’d previously told his mother he’d lose respect for Rosie if she got a facelift.

As Rosie finally decided, she realized that whatever she was teaching Clay, it couldn’t be that her body was simply a symbol for any belief – not even a positive one like feminism.
“That’s still not true freedom,” Rosie explained. “It’s just swapping one set of rules for another – someone else deciding what you can do with your own body.”
