So far, no official word has been given about the PS6 or its rumored handheld counterpart. However, there’s been plenty of chatter and supposed leaks circulating. The most intriguing bit of news recently surfaces.
A current YouTube video on the channel Moore’s Law Is Dead alleges it has obtained and analyzed contemporary documents from tech firm AMD, revealing specifications for the PS6 portable device.
The device, codenamed Canis, is expected to have a feature that allows it to be connected or docked, similar to the Nintendo Switch and its successor, the Switch 2.
Essentially, it appears that if the information is accurate, the PS6 handheld device could be attached to a larger screen like a TV or monitor via docking, potentially improving its performance when docked.
In the video, there’s a lot of detailed technical talk about specifications and more, yet we found one point particularly noteworthy: It appears that Sony might be aiming to challenge Nintendo’s hybrid strategy, while still releasing traditional home console models as well.
It remains uncertain just how reliable all the speculations are regarding Sony’s future-generation plans, as they haven’t shared details yet. We might have to wait a couple more years before they disclose any information on this topic.
Still, the prospect of a dockable handheld is quite an exciting one.
Would you be interested in having that feature on PS6’s portable version? Could this particular feature make you decide to purchase the handheld device instead of the home console? Feel free to share your thoughts below.
