Naomi Osaka is shedding her skin at the Met Gala 2026.
The tennis champion made a striking entrance at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s fundraising event on May 4th, wearing a stunning two-piece outfit designed by Robert Wun. The look featured a majestic white dress with red accents, paired with a vibrant, form-fitting red gown.
Naomi’s outfit started with a white coat that had bright red, feather-like accents on the front. She completed the look with a large, matching hat also decorated with feathers, and sheer gloves designed to look like claws. (You can find photos of all the Met Gala 2026 attendees here.)
The 28-year-old made a stunning first impression, but she truly captivated the audience when she began walking up the steps to the “Costume Art” event. She cleverly interpreted the “Fashion is Art” theme by turning her entrance into a performance piece.
As Naomi reached the Met Gala steps, someone helped her take off her white coat, revealing another outfit underneath. She then shared that her look was meant to show that fashion is about more than just appearance.
Naomi said working with Robert Wun was a huge honor. She described the experience as a transformation, like ‘shedding skin’ and exploring what it means to be human, as she told Variety at the event.
She later described her look as “inspirational and different.”

Naomi wasn’t the only tennis star making a fashion statement at the Met Gala. Venus Williams, one of the event’s co-hosts alongside Nicole Kidman, Beyoncé, and Anna Wintour, explained that her outfit was also meant to convey a meaningful message.
Venus shared with Zuri Hall during Live From TopMob: Met Gala 2026 that her earrings, which display ‘six percent,’ are a statement about a project with Gatorade. The project highlights the fact that only six percent of sports science research focuses on women.

As she noted, “Can you imagine? So tonight’s a special night for that.”
