Sega Teases the Return of One of Its Most Iconic Franchises Ever

Sega is hinting at the comeback of a beloved classic franchise. Even though they haven’t made consoles in over two decades, Sega remains a major player in gaming thanks to popular series like Persona, Like a Dragon (Yakuza), Total War, and Sonic the Hedgehog, consistently releasing new games. Now, it looks like we’re about to get our first look at a new installment in a franchise that’s been largely absent for the past 20 years.

Sega recently hinted at a comeback for the classic game Crazy Taxi with a short video on social media. The video showed a taxi sign lighting up, suggesting the series is returning. While Sega didn’t share many details, this is the first mention of Crazy Taxi on their social media in over four years.

Last year, Sega announced plans to revive several of its classic game franchises that had been dormant for a while, including Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Golden Axe, and Streets of Rage. While we haven’t heard many updates on those projects since, it appears Crazy Taxi will be the first to return.

With a new Crazy Taxi game potentially on the way, Sega has several opportunities to announce it soon. Gaming events are scheduled in the coming weeks from PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo, and Summer Game Fest is happening on June 5th. Sega could reveal a first look at the Crazy Taxi reboot at any of these events, though nothing has been officially confirmed yet.

We’re still waiting for Sega to announce when and where the new Crazy Taxi game will be released. As soon as we have more official details, we’ll share them with you here on ComicBook.
