Ten years after the bombing at Ariana Grande’s concert in Manchester Arena, Sky is releasing a new documentary film about the event.
I’m really looking forward to seeing this – a full-length documentary about the Manchester Arena bombing is coming to Sky Documentaries and NOW in 2027. It’s been a long time coming, and I think it’s important this story is told.
On May 22, 2017, a suicide bomber attacked concertgoers at the end of Ariana Grande’s show at Manchester Arena, during her Dangerous Woman tour. This tragic event brought the concert to a devastating end.
The attack killed 22 people, including many children and young people, and injured hundreds more. It was the deadliest terrorist incident in the UK since the 2005 London bombings.
As a total film buff, I’m really excited about this new documentary. It promises to finally get to the heart of what happened that night, and it’s going to do it by letting the people who lived through it tell their stories. More than just facts, it sounds like it will really focus on remembering and honoring those we lost, and that’s something I always appreciate in a film.
The movie will also show how, nearly ten years later, the full and long-term effects of the attack are only beginning to be understood.
RAW, the company behind ‘The Body Next Door’, produced the documentary. Sophie Oliver, who previously directed ‘Boyzone: No Matter What’, directed it, with Tom Sheahan and Liesel Evans of RAW serving as executive producers.

Sheahan and Evans explained that the film prioritizes the real stories of people who experienced the events firsthand – their experiences, contributions, and the lasting impact it has had on their lives, even almost a decade later.
The movie will unfold in order, starting with the energy and joy of the concert, then showing the chaos and aftermath – including the explosion, panic, and rescue efforts. It will continue to explore the long-term impact and the incredible way the event brought Manchester, and the country, together.
Hayley Reynolds, who commissions documentaries for Sky, explained that the Manchester Arena bombing was a pivotal event in modern British history. For many young people who didn’t experience the 7/7 bombings, it was their first exposure to such a horrific act of terrorism on home soil.
“Ten years on, it remains vital to remember what happened and reflect on its lasting impact.”
The Manchester Arena Bombing will be available on Sky Documentaries and NOW in 2027.
