Mega Crit’s Slay the Spire 2 is now available in early access, and it’s proving to be even more popular than the original game. Within just two hours of release, it reached a peak of over 156,000 players on Steam, and that number is still climbing!
The original Slay the Spire reached its highest player count of 57,025 last December, coinciding with the reveal of the sequel’s first gameplay. While the game started with a small audience when it initially launched in early access, strong recommendations from players helped it sell over 1.5 million copies after its full release.
Currently, Slay the Spire 2 is only playable on PC. The developers, Mega Crit, anticipate it will be in early access for one to two years, but their main focus is making sure the game feels polished and enjoyable. The story takes place 1,000 years after the original, with the Spire returning and bringing new, even greater dangers. Players can choose from five characters, including the returning favorites Ironclad, Silent, and Defect.
This update introduces not only new cards and Relics, but also cooperative play for the first time ever! Now, up to four players can work together to climb the Spire, and either achieve victory or fall in the attempt.
