Some Xbox Series X Users Can Now Play New PlayStation Game for Free

Xbox Series X owners have a limited-time opportunity to play a PlayStation game at no cost until the end of the weekend (April 26th). Players can enjoy the full game with unlimited playtime, easily racking up several hours of gameplay. To access this free offer, an Xbox Game Pass subscription is required. However, this isn’t a new addition to the Game Pass library; it’s part of Xbox’s Free Play Days promotion.

Okay, so here’s the deal: if you’re an Xbox Game Pass member, you can play MLB The Show 26 for free for the next few days! It just came out on March 17th, so it’s super new. Normally it’s $70 on the Microsoft Store, but right now, during this Free Play Days thing, it’s on sale for $46.89 if you want to keep playing after the free period ends. Pretty sweet, right?

The PlayStation version of the game has a 3 out of 5 star rating on the Microsoft Store, which is typical for this yearly baseball series. It received a better score of 73 on Metacritic. However, long-time fans will find this version very similar to previous games, and those who don’t usually play the series likely won’t find anything new to draw them in.

If you don’t have Xbox Game Pass, you can still try out a new game! All Xbox Series X and Series S owners will be able to play Age of Mythology: Retold for free for a limited time. Unlike MLB The Show, this game is published by Xbox itself, though it originally came out in 2024.

MLB The Show 25 wasn’t included with Xbox Game Pass, and it’s unlikely the next version will be either. This means Xbox Game Pass members will only have this current opportunity to play the game at no extra cost.
