As a huge fan of both Godzilla and Sonic, I’m absolutely thrilled about this! Godzilla’s always been known for epic clashes – he’s fought Kong, even characters from Neon Genesis Evangelion and the Marvel Universe! But his next opponent is something totally different. Later this year, the King of the Monsters is going head-to-head with Sonic the Hedgehog! IDW just dropped the first trailer for the Sonic the Hedgehog x Godzilla comic series, which is coming out in 2026, and it looks incredible. It’s such a unique matchup, and the hype is already building – I can’t wait to see these two titans collide!
I’m excited to share that the big Sonic and Godzilla crossover is officially hitting stores on July 15th! Nick Marino is writing the series, and Jack Lawrence is doing the artwork. It’s going to be huge – obviously Sonic and Godzilla are central to the story, but we’ve also gotten glimpses that characters like Shadow, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Mothra, and even Mechagodzilla will be showing up. I just saw the latest trailer, and it looks like things are going to get pretty chaotic when these universes collide!
What Will Sonic And Godzilla Do Together?
Here’s the official story description: Sonic the Hedgehog’s fight with Dr. Eggman takes a surprising turn when Mothra and Mechagodzilla crash into his world through a massive rift in reality! These two powerful monsters bring their epic battle to Sonic’s home, putting everything at risk. Can Sonic, along with Amy and Tails, stop the destruction? And what’s Eggman’s angle in all of this?
IDW’s editors shared some details about the upcoming Sonic and Godzilla crossover event this summer. They explained that combining these two action-packed series felt natural, and they’ve enjoyed bringing the story to life. Knowing fans have wanted this crossover for a long time, IDW aims to deliver something truly special. The story will feature a mysterious portal, a huge monster attack on Sonic’s world that sparks a new plan from Dr. Eggman, and will team up characters like Knuckles, Shadow, Amy, and Tails alongside Sonic and Godzilla. Expect plenty of action and excitement!
This comic book isn’t the first time Sonic and Godzilla have teamed up. Godzilla previously appeared in the mobile game Sonic Rumble, marking a significant introduction of the famous monster to Sonic’s world.
