Although Sony seems to be shifting its focus away from mobile games in general, MLB The Show Mobile is still expected to be incredibly popular.
As a huge fan of MLB The Show, I was so excited to see the new trailer for the mobile version! It’s awesome that Sony is bringing the game to our phones after the massive success of MLB The Show 26 on consoles in March.
The game is currently being created by the San Diego Studio team, and it appears to successfully bring the excellent gameplay from the console version to mobile devices.
The game seems a bit more streamlined. The incredibly accurate pitching system from the console version has been swapped for a more basic timing-based one, similar to older games in the series. However, you can still choose where to place your hits, and you’re still in control of how your fielders move and catch.
As a fan, it’s pretty clear this game is free-to-play and centers around collecting cards in Diamond Dynasty, just like the console version. It might not be everyone’s favorite way to play baseball, but honestly, it feels really natural on mobile!
The game is currently released in a few countries, but we expect most players to be in the US. You can sign up to download it now on the App Store and Google Play.
We don’t know the exact release date yet, but San Diego Studio is taking pre-registrations until May, suggesting the game might be released in June.
As mentioned earlier, Sony has been scaling back many of its mobile gaming efforts. However, MLB The Show Mobile is one game that hasn’t been cancelled, and we think that’s significant.
