GSC Game World’s Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl serves as a highly accurate sequel to the original series, with its A-Life simulation adding even more realism now. Unlike many contemporary games, GSC’s open-world game in Stalker 2 does not focus on features like crafting that are common in similar games today.
Thanks to the efforts of modder KynesPeaceZunaSW, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl now boasts a comprehensive crafting system available throughout the game’s open world. This new feature is intended to intensify the sense of isolation and reduce your dependence on traders. The “Craftable Zone” mod enables players to manufacture and enhance various items as they traverse the Zone.
Stalker 2 Craftable Zone mod
Ready for download, the Craftable Zone mod operates in conjunction with the Lootable Zone mod to establish a region where self-sustenance is achievable. The Lootable Zone mod, in this context, introduces extensive itemization to the open world, enabling you to gather over 400 new items from both enemies and your surroundings.
After installing Craftable Zone, anything you acquire now becomes useful as it can either be transformed into a new item or dismantled for raw materials. Take the example of plastic film, an empty syringe, and some vinca; they can be combined to make a MedKit. Conversely, 9x19mm FMJ bullets can be broken down into handgun FMJ tips, handgun casings, and gunpowder, which in turn can be utilized for crafting different types of ammunition.

The pair of modifications significantly alters the atmosphere in Stalker 2, making every game item valuable. Instead of only purchasing a stronger scanner from a trader or discovering one in the environment, you also have the option to enhance your existing one if you possess the necessary resources. Essentially, it introduces numerous additional choices and significantly boosts the significance of foraging.
From a personal perspective, there’s an undeniable resemblance between Craftable Zone and Lootable Zone and the vibe of Roadside Picnic, the book that inspired Stalker. Yet, the game deviates significantly from its predecessors, offering a fresh, thrilling experience that pushes the boundaries for long-time players. It’s a captivating blend of familiarity and novelty that keeps me engaged!
