Steam’s Most Wishlisted Game Is Skipping PS5 for Now

Subnautica 2’s road to release may be more interesting than the game itself.

If you follow the gaming world, you probably know that Krafton and Unknown Worlds recently had a serious disagreement. This led to the removal of Unknown Worlds’ CEO and other significant changes.

A judge ultimately ruled in favor of the San Francisco studio, and the new trailer doesn’t include any reference to the Korean company. Notably, Ted Gill, the previously fired CEO, is now quoted in the official announcement, suggesting he has returned to his position.

Madness!

Players will be able to start playing Subnautica 2 on May 14th, and the development team is eager to get feedback as the game improves during its Early Access period.

The game is launching in Early Access in just two weeks, and we expect it to become very popular.

Subnautica 2 has been at the top of Steam’s wishlist for a long time, and it’s likely to become a huge sales success when it releases. While a high wishlist count doesn’t always mean strong sales, this game seems poised to perform exceptionally well.

The main challenge is that Sony isn’t always quick to release games that are still in development (Early Access). While they’ve made exceptions before, they usually prefer to launch fully completed games on the PS Store.

Subnautica 2 is launching on PC and Xbox Series X|S on May 14th. PlayStation 5 players will need to wait a bit longer for their turn.

We’re happy to announce that the game is still planned for release on PlayStation, and it will be the full, final version. In the meantime, we might revisit the original game and its expansion, Below Zero, to pass the time.
