Stick Season 2’s Release Timeline On Apple TV Addressed By Series Creator

Owen Wilson’s Stick season 2 should be swinging onto Apple TV sooner than later.

Apple TV+ quickly renewed its golf comedy series, starring Owen Wilson, for a second season after a successful summer run in 2025. Although the renewal happened around the time the first season, Shrinking, ended in late July 2025, details about the story, production, and release date for the new episodes have remained mostly secret.

I was reading an interview with Jason Keller, the creator of Stick, over on Deadline, and they asked him about when we can expect season 2 to drop on Apple TV. He said filming actually finished about a month and a half ago, which is great news! But, and this is the frustrating part, even he doesn’t know when Apple TV plans to release it yet. Apparently, they haven’t told him a date!

We’ve finished filming and are now fully focused on editing and finishing the show. We’re aiming for a release as soon as possible.

Although Apple TV hasn’t officially announced anything, with filming well underway, it’s very likely that season 2 of Stick will be released in 2026. While a late summer launch is possible, the fact that the director hasn’t received a confirmed release date suggests a fall premiere is more likely.

The release of season two of Stick might be delayed because of competition from a new golf comedy called The Hawk coming to Netflix. Starring Will Ferrell, The Hawk shares a similar premise to Stick, and Apple TV+ may want to avoid having the two shows compete for viewers at the same time. The Hawk will be available all at once on July 16th, so Apple might be waiting to release the full season of Stick after that date.

During a recent interview, Wilson and Keller hinted at upcoming developments for Pryce Cahill (Wilson) in the second season of Stick. The season one finale ended with Pryce hitting an impressive golf shot, suggesting his professional golf career might not be finished. While they didn’t reveal details, Wilson and Keller confirmed that Pryce will be playing golf again in season two, and will be doing more than just coaching Santi (Peter Dager).

Season two of Stick will bring back several familiar faces, including Wilson as Pryce “Stick” Cahill, Peter Dager as Santi Wheeler, Marc Maron as Mitts, Mariana Treviño as Elena Wheeler, Timothy Olyphant as Clark Ross, Judy Greer as Amber-Linn, and Lilli Kay as Zero Duffy. New to the cast this season are Billy Zane, John Higgins, Rex Linn, and Missi Pyle.

It’s still unknown if season 2 of Stick will be released this year, but Apple TV has a lot of exciting content planned for 2026. We can look forward to the return of popular shows like Ted Lasso, Sugar, Dark Matter, and Silo, plus brand new series including Cape Fear, Lucky, and Star City. Even while we wait for an official release date for Stick season 2, Apple TV is set to deliver a strong lineup of shows throughout the year.
