Warning: Spoilers ahead for the Stranger Things finale!
As a huge Stranger Things fan, I just finished the final season, and wow, it was a rollercoaster! While the ending had a lot of exciting moments, one cast member’s interpretation of what happens to Eleven in the last episode… well, let’s just say it’s not what most fans will want to hear. Honestly, after waiting so long for these final episodes, it’s a bit of a relief to have the story wrapped up. You really notice how much older the actors are now compared to when the show started! The season finale, especially the episode ‘The Rightside Up,’ brings everything to a head, but Eleven’s ultimate sacrifice to save everyone is definitely the most talked-about moment.
Eleven’s possible survival is a big topic of debate among fans, thanks to theories proposed by Mike. The creators of Stranger Things, the Duffer Brothers, intentionally left her fate unclear, which has left many viewers frustrated. Even the cast members have their own opinions, just like the audience. Sadie Sink, who plays Max Mayfield, recently discussed her thoughts with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, according to Variety.
Sadie Sink believes the character is dead, and she wonders if that’s a controversial opinion. She sees Mike’s story as a final farewell to childhood – one last story before moving on. She thinks it’s a way of dealing with the situation, and it makes the ending more impactful.
Why Audiences Might Be Upset by Sadie Sink’s ‘Stranger Things’ Finale Comments
Everyone’s entitled to their own thoughts on how Stranger Things ended, especially since the finale leaves a lot open to discussion. It’s easy to see why some might not agree with Sadie Sink’s perspective. After watching Eleven develop over five seasons, it’s disappointing that she doesn’t get to enjoy a normal life with her friends after everything that happened, even though her ultimate destiny felt somewhat predetermined.
It’s understandable why some fans think Mike’s theory about the ending could be true. From the start, Mike and Eleven’s connection has been central to Stranger Things, so if anyone would imagine a different fate for Eleven, it’s him. Also, the show recently revealed more about Eleven’s powers, hinting that anything could happen. Eleven seemingly sacrifices herself and disappears completely, but does this truly mean she’s gone?
