I was absolutely loving tonight’s Strictly! Claudia Winkleman is a genius – she totally nailed the Coldplay kiss cam meme, and everyone online is buzzing about it. It was such a fun moment and really brightened up the show!
Week 4 saw George and Alexis dance a Tango to the British band’s classic song, Viva La Vida.
Before filming their own video, the Strictly team recreated a viral moment from a Coldplay concert in Boston. The moment showed two people seemingly caught kissing on the kiss cam, and then quickly trying to avoid being seen.
Host Tess Daly announced George and Alexis, then said, “To celebrate Coldplay, let’s use our audience cam and see what everyone’s up to in the studio tonight!”
The camera showed Claudia hugging Dave Arch, and they both playfully reacted with shock and pretended to be embarrassed when they noticed everyone was watching them.
Viewers immediately took to social media to share their amusement over a joke involving Claudia Winkleman and Dave Arch, with one person posting on X (formerly Twitter): “I’m cracking up at Claudia and Dave Arch pretending to be the couple at the Coldplay concert! #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing.”
One viewer joked that the show didn’t quite capture the magic of Coldplay’s kiss cam, and needed several days to get over it. They used the hashtag #Strictly to share their reaction.
Another fan commented on Claudia and Dave Arch playfully reenacting the famous Coldplay kiss cam incident, calling it “brilliant” and praising the show, Strictly.
Tonight on the show, viewers criticized the judges, claiming they gave contestant Karen Carney a score that was too low after her quickstep performance with partner Carlos Gu. The dance was set to Beverley Knight’s song, ‘Marvellous’.
The judges loved the performance, which made some viewers a little surprised by the scores: 6, 7, 7, and 7, for a total of 27.
Strictly Come Dancing is available to watch on catch-up on BBC iPlayer.
