Fans will see Superman back on screen sooner than expected, in a new DC project that exists outside of the main DC Universe (DCU). While David Corenswet is established as the DCU’s Superman – with the 2025 film Superman launching the franchise to critical and commercial success, earning over $600 million – this new project is separate. The 2025 film was a strong start for the DCU and has made Superman its central figure.
Superman will remain central to the DC Universe’s future. The upcoming film, Supergirl, will focus on Superman’s cousin, Kara. Following that, Superman will star in Man of Tomorrow in 2027, with only the horror film Clayface scheduled for release before then. Considering James Gunn’s emphasis on the character, the positive reception to the Superman film planned for 2025, and Superman’s enduring popularity, fans are highly anticipating his next appearance in a DC project.
Superman fans have a lot to anticipate in the new DC Universe, but they’ll need to be patient – David Corenswet’s live-action debut as Superman isn’t until 2027. Fortunately, a different take on the character is arriving much sooner with the animated series, My Adventures with Superman. Although it’s not connected to the DCU and isn’t live-action, it’s definitely something any Superman fan will want to check out.
My Adventures With Superman Season 3 Will Bring Clark Kent Back Before Man Of Tomorrow
Although the animated series My Adventures with Superman presents a different take on the character than the upcoming DCU, it will be the first DC project to prominently feature Superman since the announcement of Superman in 2025. Season 3 of My Adventures with Superman begins airing on Adult Swim on June 13th, with episodes available to stream on HBO Max the following day. Meanwhile, the live-action Man of Tomorrow movie isn’t scheduled to hit theaters until July 9, 2027.
Even though the Clark Kent in My Adventures with Superman is different from the one David Corenswet plays, there’s still a lot to be excited about for season 3. Jack Quaid, who voices Superman, is widely considered a top-tier voice actor for the character, largely due to the genuine warmth and sincerity he brings to the role. Season 3 will also feature an adaptation of one of the most beloved Superman comic storylines, “Reign of the Supermen.”
Fans are anticipating season 3 of My Adventures with Superman even more than the upcoming Man of Tomorrow. While Man of Tomorrow is promoting a team-up between Superman and Lex Luthor against Brainiac, My Adventures with Superman keeps the spotlight firmly on Superman himself. The third season will adapt the “Reign of the Supermen” storyline, which centers on Clark Kent confronting multiple individuals with powers identical to his own.
One thing I’m really excited about with My Adventures with Superman is that it’s actually bringing Superboy into the mix! The show is adapting the “Reign of the Supermen” storyline in season 3, and it’s cool to see. Plus, with Supergirl already introduced last season, My Adventures with Superman is surprisingly building out a larger supporting cast connected to Superman than we’ve seen in the DCU so far. It’s a nice touch and adds a lot of potential!
David Corenswet’s Superman Will Have A Cameo In Supergirl
As a huge Superman fan, I’m really excited about what’s happening with these projects! It’s cool that My Adventures with Superman is getting a season 3 – it’ll be the first time we’ve really focused on Clark Kent’s story since the announcement of the new Superman movie with David Corenswet. And it sounds like we won’t have to wait too long to see him! Even though Jack Quaid is killing it as Superman in the animated series, Corenswet is already set to appear in Supergirl, which is coming out June 26th. They even showed a quick video of him in the Supergirl trailer, giving Kara some encouraging words about finding her place.
We don’t yet know how significant Superman’s role will be in Supergirl, but it will likely be a brief appearance. The show is basing its current storyline on the comic book arc “Woman of Tomorrow,” which focused on Kara handling challenges independently. While Supergirl has made some changes to the comic’s story, adding Superman would be a major departure.
Unlike Superman, who focuses on protecting Earth, “Woman of Tomorrow” will be set entirely on distant alien planets. While Kara might briefly return to Earth at the end of Supergirl, David Corenswet’s Superman would likely only have a short appearance, similar to Kara’s cameo in the Superman movie.
For Superman fans eager to see more of the character’s own story, season 3 of My Adventures with Superman remains the biggest event to look forward to in 2026. It will feature Superman prominently well before Man of Tomorrow arrives, and it’s adapting a beloved comic storyline with some fresh, new surprises. If you’re a Superman enthusiast, you won’t want to miss My Adventures with Superman season 3.
