Survivor Greece Suspended After Contestant Loses Part of His Leg

Survivor Greece is off the air after a harrowing accident.

While filming in the Dominican Republic, a participant named Stavros Floros suffered a serious, life-threatening injury while spearfishing.

The Toronto Sun reports that, according to Greek authorities, Floros was diving in a busy area used by tourist boats and didn’t have a marker buoy to show his location. A boat unintentionally hit him while he was underwater.

The 21-year-old beekeeper was seriously injured when the boat’s propeller badly damaged his legs. He partially lost his left leg and suffered a severe ankle injury on his right leg.

After the incident occurred, AcunMedya, the production company, stated they are investigating. According to the Toronto Sun, AcunMedya said they immediately provided help and moved the injured contestant to safety. They added that port authorities are working to determine what caused the incident and fully understand what happened.

It noted that Floros “remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition and is out of danger.”

SKAI TV has temporarily stopped airing the 13th season of Survivor Greece while they investigate an accident that occurred.

SKAI is carefully following the participant’s health and will do everything it can to support their treatment, including any necessary hospital stays and recovery care.

Although no one has ever died while competing on Survivor – whether in the original American version or any of its international editions – the show has seen its share of frightening accidents.

In season 49 of the show, contestant Jake Latimer was bitten by a venomous water snake while wading near the shore of a Fijian island.

Latimer was quickly removed from the game as a precaution after a medical issue, and unfortunately, this ended his participation in the series. Although he was ultimately fine, the team prioritized his health and took him off the field immediately.

Following the incident, host Jeff Probst reflected on just how high the stakes of Survivor really are.

He explained to The Hollywood Reporter in an October interview that the need for a medical evacuation proves the show is authentic. “People still question if Survivor is real,” he said, “but that was a genuine sea krait bite, and it was a truly frightening experience.”

Also on the current, 50th season, contestant Kyle Fraser had to leave the competition after tearing his Achilles tendon while competing in an immunity challenge.

He wasn’t happy about leaving the show, telling Entertainment Weekly in February that he tried to convince producers to let him stay. He said he even offered to sign a waiver, and believed his alliance would have kept him in the game if given the chance. He mentioned Jeff (presumably Jeff Probst) would confirm they had a lengthy discussion about it.

However, once the severity of Kyle’s injury was made clear, he knew it was the right call.

As he put it, “It was clear I needed to go.”

I was so scared when I heard about what happened with Jamie Lynn Spears’ daughter, Maddie. Back in February 2017, little Maddie, who was only eight years old at the time, was riding an ATV near their home in Louisiana and unfortunately had an accident. It flipped over into a pond, and she was actually underwater for several minutes. It was a terrifying situation, and I was so relieved to hear she was okay.

Jamie Lynn remembered thinking her daughter had died when she was pulled from the water and first responders took over. She shared this on the 2020 Maria Menounos Better Together podcast.

Although the extent of her injuries was initially unclear, Maddie regained consciousness and was able to speak within two days. She was back to her everyday life just a few weeks later.

Jamie Lynn shared that she’s incredibly grateful to have her daughter back after a difficult time where they were separated. She described it as a blessing to be reunited.

Let me tell you, things got a little too real on the set of my upcoming movie, Bride Hard! It was my very last night of filming, and during a fight scene, a prop gun accidentally hit me right in the face. Honestly, it was a total freak accident, and it actually split my nose open! I had to leave immediately, and I just thought, ‘Seriously? This happens on my last day?!’ It was definitely a memorable finish to filming with Anna Camp, that’s for sure.

She described being terrified after the 2023 incident, explaining she was surrounded by her own blood. An ambulance was called, and a plastic surgeon had to be brought in to prevent permanent scarring. Thankfully, the surgeon was able to repair the damage with stitches, and she says you can’t even tell it happened now.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Jimmy Fallon – Jimmy Fallon! – almost lost a finger! Apparently, he tripped at home, and when he tried to catch himself, his ring just… got caught. Like, ripped his finger! I was so worried when I heard! Can you imagine?! It’s awful, but honestly, it just makes me love him more that he’s so clumsy and real. I’m just glad it wasn’t worse!

Doctors hospitalized him for ten days to try and save his finger after he suffered a severe ring injury, known as a “ring avulsion,” which threatened amputation.

In June 2025, Zane Wach, a seasoned hiker and multi-sport athlete who competes in running, swimming, and triathlons, almost suffered from altitude sickness while hiking Mount Whitney in California with his father, Ryan Wach.

The 14-year-old began having hallucinations, but he was aware they weren’t real, Ryan told SFGATE. He described seeing things like snowmen and Kermit the Frog.

Ryan had to repeatedly stop his teenage son from walking off the cliff as they hiked back down the trail. The father explained that his son seemed confused and they still aren’t sure why. He believes it was likely a combination of being very tired, not getting enough sleep, possible dehydration, and lingering effects from altitude sickness, which caused his son to question what was real.

After two failed attempts to reach Zane, Ryan watched helplessly as his son tumbled about 120 feet down a cliff. It took six hours for a rescue helicopter from Inyo County to arrive and transport Zane to the hospital in Lone Pine, where he was initially stabilized before being moved to a specialized trauma center for children in Las Vegas. Doctors put Zane into a medically induced coma, but he eventually started breathing independently.

Ryan described his teenager’s recovery from a serious accident – including a head injury, broken finger, ankle, and fractured pelvis – as a long journey. He said, ‘We’re still going through it, but ultimately, he’s going to survive.’

On New Year’s Day in 2023, actor Jeremy Renner, known for his role in Avengers, was helping a family member by using a snowplow to pull a stuck vehicle out of the snow at his Lake Tahoe home. After getting out of the snowplow, it began to roll and he tried to stop it from hitting his nephew. In the process, he was pulled under the vehicle and suffered an incredible 38 broken bones.

I was completely captivated by his words in his memoir, My Next Breath. He described lying on the ice, his heart slowing down, and just feeling… tired. It was New Year’s Day, and none of his family – not his daughter, sisters, friends, or even his parents – knew what was happening. He explained that after about thirty minutes of manually breathing – which he compared to doing ten or twenty push-ups every minute for half an hour – that’s when he passed away. It’s a profoundly moving and honest account.

Despite suffering broken bones, significant blood loss, and the risk of dangerously low body temperature, he believed he had died. He later wrote that paramedics found his heart rate had dropped to just 18 beats per minute, a level they considered fatal.

In May 2025, TikTok creator Emilie Kiser and her husband, Brady, experienced every parent’s nightmare when their three-year-old son, Trigg, accidentally fell into their swimming pool at their home in Arizona.

I was so heartbroken to hear the news about the little boy from Chandler. On May 12th, police were called to a home because a toddler had been found unconscious after falling into a backyard pool. They and the fire department immediately started CPR, and he was rushed to the hospital. Sadly, despite their best efforts, he passed away six days later. It’s just a terrible tragedy.

Emilie filed a lawsuit asking the court to keep the details of his death private. The lawsuit explained that Emilie is focused on caring for her two-month-old son, Theodore, and is struggling every day with the loss.

Dr. Cara Hodgson’s family vacation to Thailand became a nightmare in December 2023 when she was shocked by power lines. She lost consciousness and was taken to the emergency room, spending the next eleven days in and out of hospitals as she struggled to recover and save her life, as she shared in an Instagram post on New Year’s Day. She expressed immense gratitude to still be alive.

Despite the discomfort, the orthodontist discovered a newfound appreciation for life. Cara explained that the experience reminded her – and all of us – of something important: simply being alive is a gift. Being able to breathe, eat, speak, and move is truly special and deserves to be celebrated.

In June 2025, Brazilian tourist Juliana Marins died while hiking on Mount Rinjani, an active volcano in Indonesia. She fell from a cliff, and despite a four-day search effort by a team of 48 people, her body was only found after being hampered by bad weather and difficult terrain, according to a statement from the Brazilian government. She did not fall into the volcano’s crater.

It is with a heavy heart that I share some incredibly sad news. I just learned from Juliana Marins’ family’s updates that rescue teams reached her location, but sadly, she didn’t make it. They’ve expressed their deep gratitude for all the love, prayers, and support everyone sent their way during this difficult time, and I want to echo that gratitude. It’s a heartbreaking reminder to cherish every moment.

In 2015, actress Tori Spelling, known for her role on Beverly Hills, 90210, suffered a burn on her right arm while at an Easter brunch at Benihana. She tripped and fell onto a hot Hibachi grill, requiring skin grafts. She later decided to take legal action against the restaurant.

She revealed on her 2024 podcast, 9021OMG (co-hosted with Jennie Garth), that she received a skin graft from her thigh after a severe burn. She jokingly said, ‘Not many people can say they’re wearing their thigh on their arm!’ but clarified she was serious – a thin layer of skin from her thigh was used to cover the burn on her arm.

Comedian Tony Knight tragically died in June 2024 at the Rock&Cars festival in France when he was struck by falling tree branches. He was 54 years old and enjoying life, according to Joanne Allen, the sister of his partner, Hayley Wright. Allen described Knight as fit, healthy, happy, and full of life, noting his charismatic and funny personality.

He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. As his longtime partner, Haley, shared on Instagram, he was incredibly talented and could turn his hand to anything. He was a wonderful friend and a devoted dog owner, but above all, he was her everything, and she says life will never be the same without him.

A company celebration turned tragic in January 2024 when the cage holding Vistex CEO Sanjay Shah and President Vishwanath Raju Datla unexpectedly fell. The two executives were meant to be lowered 20 feet onto a stage at a party in India marking the software company’s 25th anniversary. However, two supporting wires broke, causing the cage to crash onto the concrete, according to a report in The Times of India.

Sanjay, age 56, died at the hospital after the accident, according to reports. Vishwanath, 52, suffered a serious head injury and died several months afterward.

In 2022, Orlando Bloom shared a story on Instagram with UNICEF about a near-fatal accident he had when he was 19. He was attempting to climb onto the roof of a three-story building with friends when the drainpipe he was holding onto gave way, causing him to fall three floors and break his back. Luckily, he said, he survived with his spinal cord narrowly intact.

He explained that during his hospital stay, doctors initially told him he might never walk again. This was the start of a difficult process of realizing how certain recurring patterns in his life had contributed to a series of accidents, ultimately culminating in a broken back and a life-threatening situation.

After leaving the hospital wearing a back brace and struggling with both physical and emotional pain, he immediately started going out and partying—still wearing the brace, he told GQ in 2005. It took a couple of months for him to accept this new reality and decide he wanted to make the most of it.

He said the experience completely changed his perspective on life. He realized he hadn’t fully appreciated things until he almost lost everything. He used to be a reckless driver and motorcyclist, always pushing his limits, not for show, but because he thrived on the thrill. Now, though, he’s much more relaxed and cautious.
