One of the biggest films from Taylor Sheridan will soon be getting a whole new audience.

Taylor Sheridan has been increasingly focused on building his Yellowstone universe, and his workload is growing. With more projects on the horizon, one of his earlier, popular films from about ten years ago is likely to gain renewed attention on streaming services.

The critically acclaimed movie Hell or High Water, released in 2016, is coming to HBO Max in the U.S. starting June 1st. The film was written by Taylor Sheridan.

Jeff Bridges, Chris Pine, and Ben Foster led the cast of the R-rated western Hell or High Water, playing Marcus Hamilton, Toby Howard, and Tanner Howard, respectively. Marin Ireland, Gil Birmingham, Kevin Rankin, Dale Dickey, and Amber Midthunder also starred as Debbie Howard, Alberto Parker, Billy Rayburn, Elsie, and Natalie Martinez.

Taylor Sheridan, the creator of the film, made a rare on-screen appearance in Hell or High Water, playing a cowboy. Directed by David Mackenzie, the 2016 movie received several nominations for Academy Awards.

Jeff Bridges received an Oscar nomination for his supporting role, and Taylor Sheridan was nominated for Best Original Screenplay. Their film, Hell or High Water, was also nominated for Best Picture, but Moonlight ultimately won that award.

The 2016 film Hell or High Water earned $37.8 million worldwide at the box office. Of that, $27 million came from the United States and Canada, with the remaining $10.8 million coming from other countries. The film was made with a budget of $12 million, according to Box Office Mojo.

ScreenRant gave the movie Hell or High Water a rating of 8 out of 10, praising Sheridan’s realistic and compelling story. The review particularly highlighted the film’s unique blend of dark humor, especially in the scenes featuring Gil Birmingham and Jeff Bridges as Texas Rangers Alberto Parker and Marcus Hamilton.

As of today, the movie Hell or High Water has a remarkably high 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 287 critic reviews. Viewers also seem to love it, giving it an 88% Audience Score.

Even now, many consider Hell or High Water to be one of the best Neo-Western films of the 2000s, and it remains a fan favorite among Taylor Sheridan’s work. He’s now writing the screenplay for a movie based on the popular video game Call of Duty.
