It’s nearly time for all of the chefs to clear the kitchen.
The acclaimed series The Bear will conclude with its fifth and final season, debuting fully on Hulu and FX on June 25th, as announced on May 6th.
The new season, consisting of eight episodes, begins the morning after chefs Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri), Richard “Richie” Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and Natalie “Sugar” Berzatto (Abby Elliot) discover that Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) has left the restaurant and stepped away from cooking.
Alongside the primary actors, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Matty Matheson are back in their main roles. Jamie Lee Curtis, Ricky Staffieri, Oliver Platt, and Will Poulter will also return as recurring characters.
Although FX has now officially announced that season 5 will be the last, Jamie Lee Curtis, who plays Carmy’s mother, Donna Berzatto, had previously hinted that the characters were preparing to shut down the restaurant.
Jamie Lee confirmed to Entertainment Tonight on March 3rd that the upcoming season will be the last one. She clarified that this was always the plan and she wasn’t personally making any announcements about the show ending.
Jeremy Allen, known for his role in Shameless with Emmy Rossum and William H. Macy, shared how he’s maintained his energy for the show’s fifth and final season, even after previously saying he’d struggled with the role during its run.
Jeremy Allen recently told Variety that his connection to his character, Philip Gallagher, on Shameless varied throughout the show’s run. However, he feels a strong connection to his current role as Carmy.

Additionally, the actor from The Iron Claw shared that he felt a stronger connection with The Bear‘s creator, Christopher Storer, than with Shameless showrunner John Wells, likely because he began working on The Bear as an adult.
Looking back, it felt like I was experiencing the situation as a young adult, just 18 or 19, in a very different way than how Chris, who I genuinely consider a friend and someone I relate to, was experiencing it. It really came down to our different perspectives and stages in life at the time.
Sabrina Ayo, who became well-known for playing Sydney when the show first aired in 2022, has spoken about how happy she is that the series has been so successful so far.
She shared on Late Night With Seth Meyers in October 2025 that she’s passionate about learning, and she really appreciates being on a show that encourages and supports that kind of growth. She described the environment as truly special.
