Okay, so the Blood of Dawnwalker’s launch event was awesome! We finally got a release date and learned what my rig needs to handle it, but honestly, the biggest thing was seeing just how huge the world of Vale Sangora is. And Coen’s story? It’s way bigger than I expected, even bigger than the devs initially planned! We didn’t get to see everything – especially what happens after the first 30 days of gameplay – but what we did see was seriously impressive.
Last year, creative director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz estimated the game’s campaign would take 30 to 40 hours to finish. However, he recently shared in a Q&A that the average completion time is now around 50 hours, though it can vary based on how players approach the game.
He explained that they originally designed the game to take about 40 hours to complete. However, playtime now averages around 50 hours, and can vary quite a bit depending on the difficulty setting, how thoroughly players explore, and how much time they spend upgrading their equipment.
Recently, some of our team members have completed the game, and we’ve noticed a significant range in completion times – anywhere from 50 to 70 hours. This likely reflects how much optional content players explore. The game offers multiple ways to complete quests, which encourages replayability. For example, players can choose to play as a villainous Coen, and it seems to be a very enjoyable experience.
On September 3rd, The Blood of Dawnwalker will be released for $69.99 on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. So far, gameplay has shown Coen’s ability to transform into a wolf, a nod to Dracula, and how players can gain favor with various vampire lords. Building a reputation with these lords unlocks unique quests that affect the game’s ending. However, players need to manage their time carefully, as even unlocking perks can move the in-game day forward.
