When The Boys debuted on Prime Video in 2019, it was a surprise hit. The show playfully poked fun at superhero universes like Marvel and DC, but unexpectedly became a major franchise itself. Since then, it’s grown to include two spin-off series, with another on the way and a fourth being planned. However, Prime Video recently announced they were scaling back, and cancelled one of the spin-offs, Gen V.
The cancellation of Gen V at Prime Video wasn’t entirely unexpected, as the show began as a spin-off of The Boys and faced some challenges. However, it was surprising to hear the news before The Boys finished its final season. Now, Jaz Sinclair, who starred in Gen V, has spoken out, sharing a heartfelt message on Instagram: “I have a lot to say, but today I just want to express my sincere gratitude. I’m so glad you all enjoyed the show, and I’m thankful for this amazing experience.”
Gen V’s Jaz Sinclair Reacts to The Boys Spinoff Cancellation

It wasn’t entirely unexpected that Gen V ended, as it was always designed to complement The Boys. While Gen V had its own unique storyline, introduced compelling new characters, and broadened the world of Vought and superheroes, it functioned primarily as a connected side story to the main Boys narrative.
As a critic, I’ve been watching the way Gen V has cleverly expanded the world of The Boys, and it’s really paid off. Season one dropped this intriguing idea of a virus that could take down supes, which became a huge deal in The Boys. Then, season two dug into V-One, the original, super-powered version of Compound V – and that’s become absolutely central to the final season of The Boys as well. Now that The Boys is wrapping up in just a few weeks, it feels like Gen V has naturally reached the end of its role in building out this larger, interconnected story. It’s a smart way to tie everything together.
At the end of Gen V Season 2, Jaz Sinclair’s character, Marie Moreau, is in a crucial position. Because of her ability to control blood, many believe she’s one of the few who could defeat Homelander, and she joined Starlight’s team at the end of the show. While Marie hasn’t appeared on screen yet in Season 5 of The Boys, her impact is already being felt, as evidenced by the recent meeting between The Boys and Stan Edgar.
With only four episodes remaining, Marie is expected to appear in the final season of The Boys. While some Gen V fans might be disappointed her story concludes on a different show, it makes sense considering how Gen V connects to the larger The Boys universe. If Season 5 of The Boys acts as a big crossover event, it’s logical that Marie’s ultimate challenge will happen there, particularly since she hasn’t faced Homelander since discovering their connection. So, viewers can anticipate a satisfying resolution to her storyline soon, even if it doesn’t happen directly on Gen V.
