Atari has bought Implicit Conversions, a game studio known for updating classic games for newer consoles and computers, according to GamesBeat.
Implicit Conversions is the team behind many of the beloved classic games you can play on PS5 and PS4 through the PS Plus Premium service.
This studio is now part of a growing trend, joining companies like Atari that are becoming major players in emulation and retro gaming.
The company also owns Digital Eclipse and Nightdive, both well-known for bringing classic games back to life.
The studio, as highlighted by Implicit Conversions, has remastered and released over a hundred beloved classic games on today’s consoles, featuring franchises like Fear Effect, Fighting Force, and Mortal Kombat.
Atari CEO Wade Rosen announced that the company now possesses a strong set of unique tools, thanks to the inclusion of Implicit Conversions and its Syrup engine.
Robin Lavallée, cofounder of Implicit Conversions, explains that their company and Atari both love retro games and believe making them easy to play is key to keeping them alive. They’re excited to use their skills to bring more beloved classic games to a new generation of players.
PlayStation fans are wondering if Sony’s purchase will affect the studio’s plans to add classic games to the PS Plus subscription service.
