It’s been over seven years since Bethesda first announced The Elder Scrolls VI in 2018, and fans are still waiting for more information. Aside from a short teaser trailer, there have been no updates on the sequel to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Despite Bethesda’s assurances that development is in full swing, time keeps passing without a release date in sight.
Okay, so I just read a new interview with Todd Howard from Bethesda, and we finally got a little bit of an update on The Elder Scrolls VI! And get this – it sounds like they’re planning a really cool gameplay feature that has me super excited. It’s not a ton of info, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction!
The Elder Scrolls 6 Is Going Back To The Series’ Roots
Howard recently discussed The Elder Scrolls VI in an interview with Kinda Funny Games, explaining it will feel more like traditional Bethesda RPGs compared to their newer games, such as Starfield and Fallout 76. To help achieve this, the development team is using Creation Engine 3 – the latest update to the game engine Bethesda has used for its RPGs since The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind in 2002.
This Is Music To Our Ears
During the interview, Howard explained that Bethesda is using an upgraded Creation Engine to build a world that feels fresh and new, like you’re discovering it for the very first time, instead of simply recreating something familiar. This news quickly sparked discussion on the r/TESVI subreddit about The Elder Scrolls VI, and for a change, fans are optimistic about the game’s direction.
User Ubarian shared some exciting news, noting it’s the first update about the game in a while. They believe focusing on the core game’s strengths will create a solid base for future updates and expansions. Another user enthusiastically agreed, saying they’re eager to see a return to the detailed, handcrafted worlds Bethesda is known for, and the classic exploration that made their games so popular – something fans haven’t experienced in over a decade.
While we still don’t have a gameplay trailer or release date, the latest update about The Elder Scrolls VI seems to have cheered fans up. Hopefully, the next time Todd Howard is on a podcast, he’ll finally announce what everyone’s been waiting for. Until then, here are ten free games to enjoy while we wait for Bethesda’s next RPG.
