Channel 5 has announced the premiere date for season two of The Hardacres, and it’s coming soon!
The popular drama, based on the novels by C L Skelton, follows the fortunes of the family as they climb from poverty to wealth in the 1890s. A new episode will air on Channel 5 on Thursday, May 14th at 9pm.
Season 2 jumps to 1985 and follows the Hardacres as they adjust to their newfound wealth and deal with the challenges of a changing world. They’re still figuring things out after escaping poverty, but now they’re facing new issues that come with their success.
The family now faces a new challenge with the arrival of Lady Imelda Hansen (played by Michele Dotrice, known from “A Very British Scandal”), who is the mother of their neighbor, Emma.
The year is 1895, and Hardacre Hall is experiencing the changes of a new era – including electricity, fresh perspectives, and blossoming connections, according to an official preview.
Mary is eager for new opportunities and passionately supports adult learning, while Sam is working to grow the family business despite the uncertain economic climate. They’re also both considering whether Joe is prepared to take over leadership.
Liza unexpectedly falls in love. Harry rediscovers his love for teaching thanks to a new tutor, while Joe happily settles into married life with Betsy.
Claire Cooper and Liam McMahon are returning to play their characters, Mary and Sam Hardacre.
Julie Graham returns as Mary’s mother, Ma, with Adam Little, Shannon Lavelle, and Zak Ford-Williams all back as the Hardacre children, Joe, Liza, and Harry.
The cast also welcomes back Holly Sturton, Cathy Belton, Owen Roe, Ingrid Craigie, and Sarah Agha.
Joining Dotrice in the cast are Niall McNamee, known for his role in Saipan, as Edward Blackwood, and Edward Mitchell, from Justice League, as Arthur Lewis.
The Hardacres season 2 will premiere on Thursday 14 May at 9pm on 5.
