Bethesda intends to continue developing Starfield, assuring fans that the game will receive ongoing support even after its highly anticipated release on PlayStation 5.
In an interview with GamesRadar, Starfield’s lead creative producer, Tim Lamb, confirmed that more content is on the way for the game.
I’m really hoping for substantial post-launch support, but it’s a bit unclear exactly how much we’ll get. The developer, Lamb, hasn’t given a lot of specifics. They’ve said they always plan for long-term support when a game launches, but what that actually means – how big it will be, and what form it will take – is still a mystery. It’s all a bit open-ended right now!
He says the team remains enthusiastic about the game, particularly the opportunity to delve deeper into its story and settings, and that’s where their focus will be going forward.
It’s important to remember that Bethesda has been consistently working on and enhancing Starfield for nearly three years. They’ve already released a large downloadable content pack, several important updates, and now a second expansion, accompanied by what seems to be their most substantial update to date.
Lamb has likely already delivered on the promised long-term support, but fans of the sci-fi RPG will still be happy to see continued development.
Studio art director Istvan Pely shared that they have a huge number of ideas for downloadable content, covering many different aspects of the game. He said the team has discussed so many possibilities, the list is extensive.
Pely says they plan to continue updating the game, with changes ranging from small tweaks to large expansions. This isn’t the end of development for Starfield; they’ll keep supporting and improving it.
It will be fascinating to watch Bethesda’s plans unfold in the next few months. The game launching on PlayStation 5 will likely reinforce their commitment to Starfield, particularly if it performs well on that platform.
