TT Games has created many LEGO video games, and a hallmark of these games is the large number of characters players can control – often dozens or even hundreds.
The new LEGO Batman game, Legacy of the Dark Knight, features a smaller roster of only seven playable heroes. But unlike previous games, each hero is significantly more detailed and developed.
The game will let you play as Batman, but also as several other iconic characters, including Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Jim Gordon, Catwoman, and Talia al Ghul, according to the official game website.
Compared to past LEGO games where characters had simple moves because there were so many of them, each character you can play as in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has their own special weapons, abilities that can be upgraded, unlockable items, and gadgets.
Catwoman will offer a unique gameplay experience compared to Batman, featuring her own distinct abilities and fighting style, as demonstrated in this IGN video.
Catwoman differs from Batman by using a whip as her signature weapon, and she can call upon cats to help in battle using a laser pointer. You can even directly control a cat to squeeze into small areas or create distractions.
Catwoman can also travel around Gotham City using a glider. This feature likely exists because the game world was originally built with Batman’s movement in mind.
The new game seems to be giving each character special abilities, similar to Catwoman’s, which should make them more complex and fun to play compared to the simpler characters in past LEGO games.
This is a significant shift for the game, and if successful, it will create a wider variety of unique and compelling hero abilities.
