The Pitt has hit a massive streaming milestone, following the conclusion of season 2.
R. Scott Gemmill, the creator of a popular new medical series, teamed up again with producer John Wells and star Noah Wyle – the same team behind the hit show ER. The Pitt follows the fast-paced lives of the emergency room staff at a fictional hospital in Pittsburgh, unfolding over a single 15-hour workday. The show quickly became a success, winning many Emmy Awards and earning a second season which premiered recently. The season 2 finale left viewers wanting more, and the show has also reached a significant milestone in terms of viewership.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Pitt became the most-watched show overall with 1.16 billion minutes viewed, two weeks before its final episode. It was the only streaming series to exceed one billion viewing minutes during the week of March 30th to April 5th, and this marked the eighth week in a row it achieved that level of viewership.
As a huge fan, I’ve been watching The Pitt’s second season blow up, and the numbers don’t lie! It’s hit over a billion viewing minutes eleven times since it started – that’s incredible! What’s really exciting is seeing the show gain so much momentum. I think it’s down to the way the stories really pull you in, and the actors are just phenomenal – that’s what’s clearly connecting with audiences and making it a mainstream hit.
The numbers hint that season 3 of The Pitt could perform as well as, or even better than, season 2. While many viewers prefer to watch streaming shows all at once, The Pitt is compelling enough to keep people engaged even if they watch it weekly.
Viewers and critics have both enjoyed The Pitt, and if the third season gets off to a good start, it could attract even more viewers. While Nielsen ratings aren’t the only measure of success, they suggest the show is doing well and has a bright future.
Although we don’t know when season 3 will be released, season 2 of The Pitt just finished with a fantastic finale that hints at what’s to come.
