The Rip trailer has landed…
Joe Carnahan, the director behind thrillers like Narc, Smoking Aces, The A-Team, and Cop Shop, is back with a new action film, The Rip. Carnahan explains the title refers to police slang in Miami: ‘The Rip’ is what cops call it when they seize money, drugs, or weapons from criminals – the act of confiscation itself.
What’s The Rip trailer about?
Okay, so I just heard about this crazy case down in Miami – apparently, these cops stumbled upon millions of dollars hidden in an abandoned house! It sounds awesome at first, but it’s quickly turning into a mess. The money’s really caused some tension within the team, and now that everyone’s finding out about the huge amount they found, they’re starting to wonder who they can even trust. It’s like, who’s got their back, and who might be after the cash? It’s a total thriller!
Who’s in it?
The movie features Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and a supporting cast including Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins, and Kyle Chandler. This marks the first time director Joe Carnahan and Ben Affleck have worked together.
What the stars say about it…
Matt Damon explained that in Miami, cash counts must happen immediately and publicly to establish how much money is present, knowing it likely belongs to dangerous criminals who will want it back. He described a situation where people are under pressure and need to quickly figure out how to protect themselves and the money, as simply leaving isn’t an option. Ben Affleck added that the film explores the question of how people react to such a huge temptation, what that experience is like firsthand, and, crucially, who they can trust.
RELEASING GLOBALLY ON NETFLIX ON 16th JANUARY 2026
