Dylan Carter‘s loved ones are mourning a tremendous loss.
The young singer, who appeared on season 24 of The Voice, passed away on April 25th in Colleton County, South Carolina. He was 24 years old, as confirmed by his organization, The Local Voice.
The Local Voice announced with deep sadness that Dylan Carter, a co-founder of their organization, has passed away. He was a gifted musician and a beloved member of the community. The organization, which supports women fighting cancer, described Dylan as being central to their mission.
He truly believed everyone deserved to be heard, and he showed that in everything he did. His music, his warm personality, and his cheerful smile had a way of uniting people and making them feel valued. We’re incredibly thankful for Dylan, for all the love he shared with our community, and for the lasting positive effect he had on so many lives.
As a local lifestyle expert, I’m sadly reporting that authorities in Colleton County confirmed a fatal single-car accident on Lowcountry Highway. They haven’t released the victim’s name yet, but it’s a really tough situation, and our thoughts are with everyone affected.
TopMob News has reached out to authorities for further details and has not heard back.
Moncks Corner Mayor Thomas Hamilton Jr. also addressed the incident in a social media tribute.
We are deeply saddened to learn of Dylan Carter’s death in a car accident,” he shared on Facebook April 26. “Dylan was a talented singer who often performed at local events, bringing joy to our community. He was a kind and charming person who will be greatly missed.
Dylan’s performance at the Town of Moncks Corner’s “Music on Main” event on April 27th has been canceled, according to a Facebook announcement from the town.
As a music fan, I was so impressed watching Dylan on the singing competition! He had all four coaches turning their chairs for him during his blind audition – Reba McEntire, John Legend, Gwen Stefani, and even Niall Horan! Ultimately, he chose to work with Team Reba, which I thought was a fantastic fit.

“So much emotion, and I saw it and I felt it when you were singing,” she said. “That’s the kind of songs that do that to me too, because I saw you get so emotionally involved, and that’s when you know you’ve got a great song and a great singer: when it touches your heart.”
Niall praised the singer for getting all the judges to turn their chairs – a rare and impressive feat on the show.
“You managed to make Reba cry, and that’s the highest compliment!” the former One Direction member said, following Reba’s praise. “It was amazing – you could truly feel the emotion. The judges only turn their chairs for performances that are genuinely moving.”
Reba McEntire shared a heartfelt tribute to Dylan on Instagram on April 27th, expressing how much she would miss him. She remembered him as a bright, kind, and gifted young man who always brought joy to the set of The Voice, and wished him peace.
The singer, just 20 years old at the time, won over both the judges and viewers with his performance of Whitney Houston’s “I Look to You.” He sang the song as a tribute to his mother, who had passed away. Although he was eliminated later in the competition during the Battle Rounds, his audition made a strong impression.
He shared during his audition that when he saw the judges turn their chairs, it reminded him of his mother, who had passed away in October. She had specifically requested he sing the song at her funeral, and he had attempted to do so, but was too emotional to finish. He felt this audition was a second chance to honor her memory and make her proud.
Reba couldn’t contain her tears as she commented on Dylan’s performance.

She told the singer, “I really felt the emotion in your performance. Those kinds of songs always affect me deeply, and I could tell you were truly connecting with it. That’s how you know you have a truly special song and a talented singer – when it really touches you.”
Niall praised the singer for getting all four judges to turn their chairs, which is a rare and impressive feat on the show.
After Reba’s comments, the former One Direction member said it was amazing how Reba had made the judge cry. They added that the performance was truly powerful and moving, explaining that judges only turn their chairs for genuinely impactful moments.
