The 1.5 Update for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl has arrived, bringing numerous adjustments and improvements. However, the attention is primarily on GSC Game World’s modding tool in this release, which has both our interest piqued and our hard drives filling up!
GSC Game World announced that you can customize the Zone to your liking using the Stalker 2 Zone Kit. This means you can tweak existing elements or design entirely new ones – think about altering animations, crafting unique weapons, devising fresh game mechanics, and even inventing extraordinary sights within the Zone itself.
Seems fantastic, doesn’t it? However, please note that this requires an additional 700GB of free space on top of the 160GB necessary for running the main game itself.
According to GSC, they’re releasing a variety of uncompressed files to the modding community as part of their partnership. This allows modders to work with original assets when creating their mods. This benefits everyone since it ensures higher quality mods are produced.
According to GSC, the large size of the mod kit is due to the in-game assets not being compressed for the mod creators, making the game quite extensive with numerous assets. As a result, the download size is substantial. Since the Zone Kit is still in its initial phase, they plan to look into ways to potentially reduce the kit’s size in future updates.
Absolutely, the Community Representative clarified on Reddit that we introduced the Zone Kit as an initial phase. Our aim is to collaborate with Mod Makers in its development. While it already boasts many features, this is only Phase 1. In Phase 2, we plan to add even more opportunities for users to interact with the Zone using the Zone Kit.
