In the opening stages of “Titan Quest 2”, gamers may encounter the Moly Root, which appears as a flower at first glance but serves as an in-game currency. This unexpected usage can be perplexing to newcomers. The description further reveals that Moly Root restores what has been transformed, hinting at its potential use in a quest or similar gameplay event.
Throughout their journey, gamers will encounter various instances of the Moly Root. The question lingers: How should these players utilize Moly Root? As there’s no specific quest linked to this item in Titan Quest 2, instead only secret objectives, this guide aims to clarify potential uses for this flower during gameplay.
Where to Find Moly Root in Titan Quest 2
In the initial open-world region players explore during the main storyline in Titan Quest 2, known as the Flooded Farmlands, you can find Moly Root in three different spots. The first Moly Root is acquired once you exit the Crypt, specifically in the Temple of Glaukos. To reach this area, follow the priestess after you’ve absorbed the Titan Ichor. You’ll find the flower on a cliffside with some Icthian enemies nearby.
1. The second Moly Root can be found conveniently, nestled within an overgrown garden situated along the path connecting Pyrgos Village and Glaukos Temple. It’s simply there, out in the open, and folklore suggests that Circe once used it to transform Odysseus’ crew into swine. This legend serves as a significant hint for determining its purpose in Titan Quest 2.
Towards the end, slightly up north within the submerged farmlands lies a spot known as Farmlands Crossroads. This Crossroads is situated to the north of The Enclave. Here’s an interesting fact: Players can discover the third Moly Root along the northeastern road leading towards this quaint village, which hides one of the game’s secrets. To solve a puzzle in the game, you’ll need to use Moly Root at this location, so keep it in mind for later!
How to Use Moly Root in Titan Quest 2
In simpler terms, the item called Moly Root, as indicated in its description, ‘restores items or beings to their original form.’ This versatile tool allows for the transformation of non-player characters (NPCs) or even players themselves if they’ve been cursed and turned into monsters. Within the village of Pyrgos, there’s a peculiar character who makes clucking sounds like a chicken. Surprisingly, this person is not human but rather a transformed Chicken. The players can restore the chicken to its true form by using just one Moly Root.
To find a solution for the ‘chicken riddle’ in Pyrgos Village, players should traverse the town together with their new companion, exploring various coops housing chickens, until this charming creature finds its permanent residence. After visiting six specific locations (all the blind alleys marked on Pyrgos’ map where chickens can be found), the elusive Black Chicken will bestow them with some enticing rewards (Gold, Experience points, and Embers of Night).
Moving on to the scene at Farmlands Crossroads, you’ll spot a trapdoor hidden behind the building where the village trader operates. Give it a try, but remember not to get alarmed: A peculiar curse will transform you into an arachnid creature. Roam around for a bit, then approach the door where a message appears: “Consider using Moly Root?” Interact with the door again to revert back to human form and open it, but only if you have a Moly Root in your inventory handy.
Now, search for eight Green Spiders scattered throughout this cellar, and eliminate them to gather their ‘Spider Secretions’. Once you’ve gathered all eight of these quest items, venture further into the Spider Cellar and locate a Cauldron within. Pour the eight secretions into the cauldron to earn Experience Points and receive a lasting +10 increase in Energy.
It’s possible that there are still unseen uses for Moly Root in our upcoming adventure, and we may encounter this mechanism multiple times. As new details emerge, we’ll make sure to update this guide accordingly.
