Tulsa King Season 3 Quietly Set Up a Key Villain’s Redemption Arc

A surprising development in Season 3 of Tulsa King has opened the door for a major enemy of Dwight Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone) and his team to potentially turn good. Robert Patrick plays Jeremiah Dunmire, a powerful local businessman introduced as a formidable villain this season. Now known as “The General,” Dunmire and his crew have seized control of the respected Montague Distillery, which he feels is rightfully his, creating a new dynamic in the series.

Even though Dunmire tried to sabotage Dwight’s bourbon business – by stealing a key ingredient and attempting to halt the product launch – Dwight has continued to persevere. Dunmire also directly attacked the reputation of Manfredi, the creator of the bourbon, by disrupting his launch party with the police. However, even people close to Dunmire are starting to question the plan for revenge.

Why Jeremiah Dunmire Is Tulsa King’s Fiercest Villain Yet

The start of Tulsa King Season 3 introduced Jeremiah Dunmire as the show’s most dangerous villain, although his intensity has lessened since his first appearance. Meanwhile, Dwight manages to buy the Montague Distillery, a long-standing local bourbon business. This deal includes a valuable liquor license, which is particularly helpful for Dwight given his criminal record, making it difficult for him to obtain one on his own.

Dunmire swiftly responds to Theo Montague (Brett Rice) accepting a different deal, making it clear he’s upset because he intended to purchase the business himself. In the final scenes of “Blood and Bourbon,” after a polite but threatening visit, Dunmire orders his men to brutally attack Theo and burn down his house. This makes Dunmire the most frightening villain introduced so far, and because it happens early in the season, it sets the stage for even more menacing actions later on.

Jeremiah Dunmire brought his son, Cole (Beau Knapp), into the mix. Cole shares his father’s cold and ruthless nature, though he doesn’t really stand out until the episode “On the Rocks.” Despite being central to the conflict with Dwight and his team, Cole’s most memorable act is tricking Dwight into a dangerous trap. He and his men ambushed Dwight in a parking lot, demanding the location of the Montague 50 and threatening his life before severely beating him.

Cole Dunmire’s Connection to Spencer Could Lead to His Turning Sides

Recent events in Tulsa King suggest a turning point for Cole Dunmire. In the episode “Staring Down the Barrel,” Cole sees a man harassing and attempting to attack Spencer (Scarlet Rose Stallone) outside a club. Cole intervenes, stopping the attack, and in doing so, gains the trust of someone important within Dwight’s inner circle.

In the fifth episode of Tulsa King Season 3, titled “On the Rocks,” Cole and Spencer cross paths again when Dunmire revisits the Bred-2-Buck to see how the former horse trainer, now a bartender, is doing. Spencer lets Cole know the man who previously harassed her hasn’t been back to Dwight and Mitch Keller’s bar. She also pointedly adds that Cole is welcome to return anytime, creating a noticeable connection between them and continuing a developing storyline from the previous episode.

Cole Dunmire’s Romance Could Be The Key To Taking Down Jeremiah

Later in “On the Rocks,” a scene at a bar between Cole and Spencer becomes significant when Cole joins his father in sabotaging the launch party for Montague 50 bourbon. He dramatically destroys a barrel with an axe as the police shut down the event, leaving everyone, including Dwight and his team, shocked and helpless. Spencer, who is working at the party, witnesses Cole’s outburst with horror.

When Cole meets Spencer’s gaze, he seems to hesitate, perhaps questioning his plan to attack after seeing her confusion. Though he’s always been loyal to his father, his connection with Spencer, who’s quietly important to the story, might make him reconsider. Cole is Jeremiah’s son and likely won’t betray him, but Jeremiah brutally punished him with a hot poker when he messed up an attack on Mitch Keller in Tulsa King Season 3, Episode 2. This past event suggests Cole may already be struggling with divided loyalties.

Because Spencer is connected to Dwight’s group, Cole might reconsider who he supports if he stays interested in her. He’s likely still upset about Dunmire Sr.’s attack on Dwight’s people, especially since it created tension with Spencer. And the police have noticed that Jeremiah is becoming increasingly reckless in his quest for revenge. It won’t be long before important figures within Jeremiah’s circle, possibly even his family, abandon him, as we’ll see in Tulsa King Season 3.
