Tyla Reveals the “Insane” Career Moment That Changed Her Life

Tyla has been thinking about her rise to fame.

And in her opinion, it was her 2024 song “Water” that forever changed the game.

“It was just crazy,” she told TopMob News at Billboard’s Women in Music event on April 29th. “My life completely turned upside down. It took a lot of getting used to, because things are so different where I grew up in South Africa compared to here. That moment really changed everything for me.”

She became famous very quickly, so she had to learn about the music industry as she went along.

I followed my instincts and did what felt right,” she said. “Now, I’m genuinely enjoying myself more than ever.”

Tyla’s success is also bringing joy to her fans, as she’s played a huge role in popularizing South Africa’s amapiano music around the globe.

She admitted she found it hard to fully grasp how successful her music had become internationally. “To think that my music is being heard all over the world, especially coming from where I started in Africa… it’s like a dream come true, and I feel incredibly grateful,” she said.

I’ve always created music by blending a lot of different styles, and it’s always felt like pop music to me. So it’s incredible that it’s finally being recognized as such.

Because enjoying life at home is exactly how Tyla prefers it.

She said on the Miami on the Rocks podcast in 2024 that she’d prefer staying in to going to a club every weekend. She also enjoys relaxing at home, and while she’s not a video game enthusiast, she does like playing games in general.

Tyla is excited about how people will react to her new album, A*Pop, which comes out on July 24th.

She hopes it makes them sweat.

As a huge fan, I totally get what she’s aiming for with her performances! She wants to create this incredibly intimate vibe, like you’re catching a private moment – imagining everyone just letting loose and dancing around in their own space, completely comfortable and lost in the music, whether through speakers or headphones. It’s like she’s building a world where it feels completely personal and real, and that’s what draws me in so much.

Because enjoying life at home is exactly how Tyla prefers it.

“I’d much prefer staying in than going to a club every weekend,” she said on the Miami on the Rocks podcast in 2024. “I really enjoy being at home and relaxing. I don’t play video games, but I do like playing board games and things like that.”

Jennifer shared that the director, Pete Berg, instructed Sala Baker to attempt to harm her during a scene. She explained that they hadn’t rehearsed much, and Berg told her to do whatever it took to get through it safely.

She continued, explaining that they both jumped into action, and she ended up climbing onto his back. She even bit his ear – they have a photo to prove it, showing a piece of it missing, because they weren’t joking around.

During an October 2022 episode of The View, while discussing a woman who claimed her home was haunted by “sexual ghosts,” Sara Haines posed a surprising question to the panel: “Is it possible to get pregnant from a ghost?”

Luckily, Joy Behar, her co-host, chimed in with a humorous response: “I’ve had encounters with ghosts and never gotten pregnant.”

“I’m going to leave that comment as is,” Whoopi Goldberg responded. “I’m not sure everyone heard what Joy said, but I’m choosing not to address it further.”

Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb are very close friends, but Hoda recently learned something surprising about her co-host on Today. While preparing for an episode of Today with Hoda and Jenna, Hoda found out that Jenna never wears underwear.

Hoda Kotb shared a funny story on Today with Hoda and Jenna about needing to quickly return to the dressing room before a show. She realized Jenna Bush Hager doesn’t wear underwear, which she found surprising.

Jenna’s rationale? Well, no underwear might just be more convenient to her.

Before Chris Evans became famous as Captain America and was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2022, Jana Kramer dated him and thought he was a handsome and charming guy.

Oh my gosh, I was SO excited when I heard her talk about it on her podcast, Whine Down with Jana Kramer! It was over ten years ago, she said, and honestly, I’ve been replaying that podcast episode ever since. She couldn’t pinpoint exactly how many times they went out, which is killing me, but she did remember the last time they were together! I need all the details! It’s just… everything!

I remember Jana telling me that Chris invited her to hang out at his place when he had some friends visiting all the way from Boston. She was around 26 at the time, and it seemed like a casual get-together.

Jana recalled that the last thing she remembered was her partner going to the bathroom right after she’d gone, noting that eating asparagus can change the smell of urine. They didn’t spend the night together; he stayed up late with friends, and she left his house the next morning feeling embarrassed.

Not all of these confessions are amusing.

Finch, who was temporarily removed from his role on the ABC medical show before ultimately quitting, admitted, “I messed up badly. It was completely unacceptable – there’s no excuse for what I did.”

Beauty is pain, but Kim Kardashian might be able to stomach it.

The reality star told The New York Times she’d consider almost any procedure to look younger, joking that she was open to trying anything.

She admitted in June that she’d even consider something extreme – like eating something disgusting daily – if it meant she could look younger. She emphasized she was seriously considering it.

In a July 2022 interview with Allure, Kim explained she was mostly kidding when she made the comment, but admitted it wasn’t a completely awful idea.

Kim thought for a moment and then said, ‘Honestly, I’d probably eat something awful if someone promised it would make me look younger – even if it meant eating a bowl of poop every day.’

Asked how much she could eat, she said, “Perhaps just a small bite.” She didn’t think she could manage a full bowl.
