“Water” may have changed Tyla‘s life, but diamonds were her best friend at the 2026 Met Gala.
The South African singer arrived at the Met Gala in a stunning custom Valentino gown. The dress featured a sparkling top made of diamond chains, cleverly arranged to create a revealing neckline, paired with a turquoise skirt that had a dramatic high slit. (You can see all the outfits from the Met Gala here.)
She accessorized with a sparkling silver belt, light blue heels, and silver bracelets that swayed as she moved.
Hairstylist Yusef Williams created Tyla’s look using Wavytalk products, aiming for a soft, artistic style—almost like a sculpture.
Tyla Laura Seethal, known simply as Tyla, first attended the Met Gala two years ago. Her outfit, a Balmain gown inspired by an hourglass and designed to look like a sandcastle built around her, quickly became iconic.
She styled her hair in a short, bobbed cut, and applied shimmering, sand-colored makeup to her shoulders. As a playful accessory, she carried an hourglass instead of a traditional handbag, complementing her look with a stylish gold necklace and yellow gold and diamond rings and earrings by John Hardy.
Okay, let’s talk about making an entrance! This year at the Met Gala, one star truly stopped traffic – she needed a whole team to help her up the steps! It was that dramatic. And honestly, the look was so elaborate, they actually had to cut her out of it later in the night! Talk about a commitment to fashion, right?

Last year, I wore a really comfortable but still incredibly stylish outfit: a made-to-order off-the-shoulder dress by Jacquemus, paired with a matching navy pinstripe coat. It fit the event’s theme, ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,’ perfectly.
The 24-year-old artist clearly understands what it takes to succeed, and the release of her song “Water” in 2024 is already making a big impact.
“It was just unbelievable,” she told TopMob News at Billboard’s Women in Music event on April 29th. “My life completely turned upside down. It took a lot of getting used to, because growing up in South Africa is so different from life here. That moment really changed everything for me.”
For the past three years, she’s consistently turned heads with her stunning Met Gala outfits. Check out all the incredible looks from the May 4th event!
