Universal Horror Unleashed, which debuted in Las Vegas in the fall of 2025, quickly became the nation’s first permanent, year-round horror experience. Inspired by Universal’s popular Halloween Horror Nights, it offered fans both the excitement of haunted mazes and a fully immersive horror environment. Since its opening, Universal Horror Unleashed has introduced limited-time seasonal events for holidays like Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and Easter, but these were just the first steps in a larger plan for expansion.
ComicBook got a sneak peek at Universal Horror Unleashed in Las Vegas and learned about future plans for the year-round attraction. Del Wynegar, an Entertainment Director, revealed that seasonal events are scheduled through 2027. The recent Spring event, “Feaster Grievings,” featured creepy Easter themes. However, the upcoming Summer event will be different – it will be entirely based on a popular horror franchise, taking over the whole attraction.
Universal Horror Unleashed in Vegas Plans for the Future

We’re launching a fantastic new attraction this summer, but I can’t share details just yet,” Wynegar explained to ComicBook. “However, it will completely transform Universal Horror Unleashed, taking over the entire area – and even expanding outdoors. We’re adding two outdoor spaces that we can use for additional scare zones or even a fifth haunted house.
The team is heavily focused on constantly improving Universal Horror Unleashed. This includes adding new details to both the outdoor scare zones and the haunted mazes themselves. According to Wynegar, these updates encourage fans to return year after year and keep the experience exciting. They’re even considering completely changing or re-theming one of the existing mazes.
We’re exploring ways to update the mazes with new technology and creative ideas, like animatronics, automation, and projection mapping. This includes changing characters, altering the overall look of the mazes, and even completely redesigning them. We want to keep the experience exciting for returning guests and give everyone a reason to come back – people are always looking for something new and improved.
Updating one of the four haunted houses is a complex process that requires thoughtful consideration. For example, the current ‘Exorcist’ maze, based on a film that had a brief moment in the spotlight, is surprisingly enjoyable at Universal Horror Unleashed. With a new ‘Exorcist’ movie by Mike Flanagan scheduled for release in 2027, it might be smart to revamp the maze to coincide with that, though this is just our prediction.
Wynegar explained that pre-planning usually starts a few years ahead of time. The key is to create a schedule that feels planned and forward-looking, rather than just responding to immediate needs. This allows us to proactively identify and address potential issues as they arise.
We’re constantly updating the game with new content, and we’re doing so right now. We can definitely add more areas and creatures, which is great because it means the game can continue to expand indefinitely. There’s no limit to what we can add, and we’re not restricted by any level caps.
