The Chinese Room and Paradox Interactive have revealed that the Loose Cannon DLC for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will launch on April 27th. To mark the occasion, they’ve also released a new trailer, which you can watch below.
The trailer is a minute and thirty seconds long and opens with a mysterious conversation between a suspicious character and Benny. It quickly shifts to gameplay footage showing Benny fighting multiple enemies and exploring old underground areas. The trailer concludes with Benny firing at a golden statue, but hilariously missing every shot.
This downloadable content (DLC) lets players experience the story from Benny Muldoon’s perspective. The developers said Benny was their first choice for a new questline when they decided to create more DLC. Called Loose Cannon, it includes four new quests that take place between the events of meeting Benny in the “In Chains of Lead and Gold” quest and the beginning of “A Star of Cold Aspect” in the main game.
A new character, Benny, is joining the game and brings a fresh set of skills. He’ll replace Phyre’s abilities – Glide, Telekinesis, and Heightened Senses – with his own unique powers. A significant gameplay change is also coming: instead of using Telekinesis to fire weapons like Phyre, Benny can directly wield his favorite gun – a powerful, customized 9mm pistol. Benny is also proficient in melee combat, and each weapon type, like knives for quick attacks, has its own special moves.
Benny’s main way of getting around is his Soaring Leap, which lets him jump incredibly high and even dash through the air for extra distance. His skill tree will include familiar abilities from the original game, plus new options for overcoming obstacles.
The Loose Cannon downloadable content will add new Achievements and Trophies for players to earn. It also includes two new cosmetic options for the character Phyre: a suit and sunglasses belonging to Benny.
The recently released Loose Cannon is just the beginning of new content for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 this year. Developer The Chinese Room previously shared its plans for 2026, and in February, a large update added new character customization options, enemy loot, and fixed various bugs. Following Loose Cannon later this month, the next DLC, The Flower and the Flame, is scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2026. This will be accompanied by another significant update focused on improving ranged combat, adding a photo mode, and introducing a noir visual style.
You can play Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game didn’t initially perform well, which led to its publisher, Paradox Interactive, reporting a $37 million loss due to low sales. You can find a detailed assessment in our review.
