The hugely popular movie adaptation of the Broadway hit *Wicked* broke box office records last year, earning $756 million worldwide. Now, fans can get a first look at the film’s exciting conclusion with the release of the *Wicked: For Good* trailer.
The highly anticipated conclusion to the story of the witches of Oz returns, directed by Jon M. Chu and featuring the original cast, including acclaimed stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. This final chapter finds Elphaba and Glinda separated and dealing with the results of past decisions.
Elphaba, now known as The Wicked Witch of the West, is in hiding in the Ozian forest, continuing to fight for the rights of animals who have no voice and trying to reveal the Wizard’s (Jeff Goldblum) secrets. Meanwhile, Glinda has become the beloved, glamorous face of goodness in Oz, enjoying a life of luxury and popularity at the Emerald City palace. Following instructions from Madame Morrible (Oscar® winner Michelle Yeoh), Glinda publicly supports the Wizard and tries to convince the people of Oz that everything is perfect under his rule.
As Glinda’s fame grows and she plans her lavish wedding to Prince Fiyero (played by Jonathan Bailey, a celebrated actor), she can’t shake her feelings about being separated from Elphaba. She tries to help Elphaba make peace with The Wizard, but her efforts are unsuccessful, pushing the two friends further apart. This rift will deeply affect Boq (played by Ethan Slater) and Fiyero, and put Nessarose, Elphaba’s sister (played by Marissa Bode), in danger when a new arrival from Kansas disrupts their lives. As public anger rises against Elphaba, Glinda and Elphaba must find a way to reconnect. Their friendship is now crucial, and they need to truly understand each other with honesty and compassion if they hope to change their own lives and the fate of Oz for the better.
